How do you spend your free time?

My free time consists of spending time with my family, watching and coaching my 3 children’s sports activities and when possible outdoor sporting activities. You may even catch me training for a marathon depending on the year.

What are your favorite things about the area (geography)?

My favorite things about our region are the beaches! We have quick access to so much beautiful fresh clean water! It truly is an amazing resource that should be preserved, protected and enjoyed by all.

What are your favorite things about the community (people)?

My favorite things about the community is the people who call Traverse City home year round. Many of my friends and neighbors share the same appreciation for being able to live, work and play in the Traverse City/Northern Michigan area. Living here, raising a family and enjoying this high quality of life is truly a blessing.

Are you a part of any community organizations, if yes, please list them.

My community involvement consists of volunteering with the Traverse City Firefighter’s Historical Society and being a participating member of St. Francis Catholic Church.

What are the biggest issues facing Traverse City right now (pick 3)?

The 3 biggest issues facing Traverse City right now are putting a renewed focus on investing tax dollars into the neighborhoods where our year round tax paying residents live, addressing city infrastructure issues related to roads and sidewalks, and maintaining our commitment to protecting our natural resources, including our neighborhoods.

Why do you want to get involved with local politics?

Working as a firefighter for the city has kept me very informed on the regular day to day operations of the city, including where and how our tax dollars get spent.

My relationship to the community as an employee and resident has allowed me to develop a unique perspective towards the needs of our community and its residents. The residents of this community have identified me as a trusted leader who can listen and help.

Why do you want the job?

My desire to become a commissioner is only to better serve the residents and the community we all live in.

What is your vision for Traverse City?

My “Vision” for the future of Traverse City would be to ensure that it becomes a more safe, connected and welcoming community for its residents and guests to the region.
