TRAVERSE CITY — Pets Naturally and The DOG Bakery by Pets Naturally are marking a new era as founder Kathy Hyland passes ownership of the Traverse City businesses to her daughter, Jessica Follett.
According to an Oct. 20 news release, Pets Naturally was founded in 2013 and grew out of Hyland’s devotion to her Boston Terrier, Lucy, who faced ongoing health challenges. Seeking natural food and wellness options, Hyland turned a personal mission into a community staple for pet parents across Northern Michigan.
“I am absolutely thrilled to have Jessica continue the legacy of Pets Naturally and The DOG Bakery by Pets Naturally,” Hyland said. “Jessica’s passion for animals, paired with her fresh vision, will guide these businesses into the future.”
In a symbolic continuation of that legacy, Follett now shares her life with her own Boston Terrier— also named Lucy — carrying forward the inspiration behind her mother’s original venture.
“Pets Naturally and The DOG Bakery by Pets Naturally have always been about community, compassion, and helping pets live their healthiest, happiest lives,” Follett said. “I’m excited to continue that tradition while also shaping the future of our businesses.”
Both Hyland and Follett thanked their loyal customers, staff, and the local community for more than a decade of support.
Located at 1117 South Airport Road, Pets Naturally provides all-natural pet food, supplements, treats, toys, and apparel, as well as The DOG Bakery’s freshly baked creations for pets across Northern Michigan.
