TRAVERSE CITY— Grand Traverse County leaders have issued a request for proposal regarding the development of a new Justice Center. Qualified firms or individuals are asked to facilitate public engagement services to get a better understanding of community needs.
Due to aging and outdated infrastructure, significant renovations are necessary to meet current standards and inmate needs. The proposed facility would update the existing jail and serve as a centralized hub for the sheriff’s office, the Traverse City Police Department, the prosecutor, and other court employees.
County commissioners plan to evaluate the logistics of the Justice Center by incorporating public input through listening sessions, workshops, and feedback forums.
The project remains in its early planning stages. A groundbreaking date has yet to be determined, and discussions are ongoing regarding the future location and potential use of existing facilities.
