BAY HARBOR — Fire crews quickly contained a blaze early Tuesday at NOMAD. restaurant on Main Street in Bay Harbor, preventing the flames from spreading to nearby structures.
According to an Oct. 8 news release from the Petoskey Department of Public Safety, Central Dispatch received a call about a possible fire at approximately 1:16 a.m. Firefighters arrived to find flames at the rear of the restaurant. Crews extinguished the exterior fire while an interior team entered the building and put out flames inside.
The building, which is connected to the Bay Harbor Hotel and several condominiums, sustained smoke damage, but firefighters were able to limit most of the fire damage to Nomad’s kitchen area.
No injuries were reported. Fire inspectors with the Petoskey Department of Public Safety will remain on scene throughout the day to determine the cause of the fire.
Officials credited Bear Creek Fire Department, CCE Central Dispatch, Charlevoix Fire Department and Emmet EMS for assisting with the response. The incident remains under investigation.
