TRAVERSE CITY — The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services is inviting community members to share input for the state’s next Multi-Year State Plan on Aging during a public discussion later this month.
Per an Oct. 6 news release, the department’s Bureau of Aging, Community Living, and Supports will host a Community Conversation on Oct. 31 at 9 a.m. at the Michigan Works Conference Center, 1209 S. Garfield Road in Traverse City.
The event is part of a statewide effort to gather feedback from older adults, caregivers, and families to help shape goals and objectives under the federal Older Americans Act. The plan guides how Michigan supports older residents and identifies gaps in services affecting their health, independence, and quality of life.
MDHHS officials said community feedback will help the department set priorities to better meet the needs of residents age 60 and older and strengthen programs that promote their well-being.
Anyone interested in contributing can attend the conversation by registering through the Area Agency on Aging of Northwest Michigan at (800) 442-1713 or (231) 947-8920.
The Area Agency on Aging of Northwest Michigan serves Antrim, Benzie, Charlevoix, Emmet, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, Leelanau, Manistee, Missaukee, and Wexford counties. Its mission is to support independence, dignity, and quality of life for older adults, people with disabilities, and caregivers. More information is available at www.aaanm.org.
