KINROSS TOWNSHIP — Troopers from the Michigan State Police Sault Ste. Marie Post and the MSP bomb squad responded Wednesday morning to a report of a pipe bomb at the public firearms range off South Gaines Highway near Shortcut Road in Chippewa County.

Per a Sept. 24 news release, troopers were dispatched at about 10:36 a.m. and requested assistance from the bomb squad, which deployed a robot that confirmed the device was live. The squad rendered the device inert on site.
The firearms range has reopened after being temporarily closed during the investigation and bomb squad response.
