Wellness for the Family: How to reduce your cholesterol

September is National Cholesterol Education Month and 9&10’s Megan Huiskens spoke with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Registered Dietician Shanthi Apello, who gives us tips to lower our cholesterol.

There are two types of cholesterol, LDL and HDL. Apello tells us that LDL cholesterol is what we want to decrease. She says lifestyle changes like regular exercise, a low-fat diet, and not smoking are ways to reduce your cholesterol.
