BEULAH — People in Benzie County with transportation challenges will now have more options to get rides to medical appointments.
Benzie Bus announced Tuesday they will be expanding their Health Rides program. They were only available Monday through Wednesday. Starting October 1, they will be adding Thursday and Friday to the schedule.
According to the Benzie Bus release, these are the benefits of the expansion:
- Increases Accessibility: by adding Thursday and Friday Service, the program boosts availability by nearly 67%, allowing residents to schedule appointments on more days of the week and reducing wait times for rides.
- Enhanced Flexibility: for Riders: Patients, especially seniors and people with disabilities, can line-up transportation with wider range of appointment times, promoting timely healthcare and better health outcomes.
- Community Health Support: A reduction in missed appointments, which can lead to better preventative care, mental health support and overall well-being.
- Affordable and Inclusive: Cost-effective rides with options for free or discounted fares for those who qualify, including those with Medicaid and seniors 60 and older.
