Salvation Army of Petoskey to offer shower ministry

PETOSKEY — The Salvation Army of Petoskey will launch a new Shower Ministry on Wednesday, Sept. 3, to provide hot showers and support for community members in need.

The program will operate on a walk-in basis every Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to noon at the Salvation Army Community Center, 2350 Mitchell Park Drive. It is designed for individuals experiencing homelessness, plumbing issues, or power outages and aims to help people maintain basic hygiene, prepare for healthcare appointments, or attend job interviews.

In addition to weekly services, the Community Center will serve as a fully operational shelter with hot food and showers during emergencies such as the recent ice storm.

“Petoskey’s homeless population is growing, and cold weather is just around the corner,” said Envoy Roman Hank. “Hot showers can help people stay healthier and feel more confident—especially when preparing for job interviews. Everyone deserves the dignity of being clean and healthy.”

Donations to support the ministry can be made at SAPetoskey.org, by clicking “Donate Now,” or by mailing or dropping off checks at the Community Center.

The Salvation Army, an international movement and evangelical part of the Universal Christian Church, operates its ministries motivated by the love of God and is committed to meeting human needs without discrimination. More information is available at SAPetoskey.org or by calling (231) 347-3531.
