KALKASKA — The Village of Kalkaska has released a statement regarding the vandalism of the Brooktrout fountain.
In a statement from the village on Thursday, officials said they are not treating the situation as a criminal matter.
“We have become aware of Facebook posts stating we are investigating the placement of soap in the Trout Fountain as vandalism, and are seeking the individual(s) responsible. This information did not come from the Village of Kalkaska or the Kalkaska Police Department, but rather from a third party. We are aware that this occurs a few times a year, and no one is being sought.”
KALKASKA — The Brooktrout fountain was vandalized this week and officials are seeking any information from the public on the incident.

In an Aug. 12 Facebook post, True North Trout shared photos of the fountain, which appeared to have overflowed with bubbles.
The organization said anyone with information regarding the vandalism is asked to contact Kalkaska Public Works at (231) 258-9191.
