Northwest Michigan Works!, in partnership with Northwestern Michigan College and the Northwest Michigan Behavioral Health Initiative, will host a free Registered Apprenticeship Lunch and Learn workshop for behavioral health employers on Aug. 27.
The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the NMC Innovation Center, 1702 College Drive in Traverse City. Behavioral health providers and other businesses from across northwest Lower Michigan are invited to attend.
The session will offer an overview of U.S. Department of Labor registered apprenticeships, guidance on developing or expanding programs, and information on how apprenticeships can help address workforce shortages. A variety of occupations will be discussed, including behavioral health roles, across both traditional and nontraditional industries.
A panel of experienced employers and apprentices will share firsthand insights on creating, registering and managing apprenticeship programs. Following the workshop, Northwest Michigan Works! will recognize a Race to Talent Champion employer.
“This is a timely opportunity for employers to explore the benefits of registered apprenticeship for recruitment, training and retention of highly skilled workers,” said Evelyn Szpliet, regional director of apprenticeship services for Northwest Michigan Works!.
Apprenticeship team members will be available to answer questions and guide employers through registration steps. Seating is limited and RSVPs are required by emailing apprenticeshipteam@networksnorthwest.org to receive a registration link.
