Aug. 5 election results see approval of area school millages, bonds & more

Results are in for several ballot items for the Aug. 5 local elections.

Area schools see ballot item approvals

In Antrim County the Elk Rapids District Library Proposal was approved by voters by a margin of 1,063 ‘yes’ votes to 571 ‘no’ votes.

Kalkaska County’s Public Transit Authority Millage Proposal was approved by voters by a margin of 1,693 ‘yes’ votes to 806 ‘no’ votes.

Kalkaska County’s County Commission on Aging Renewal & Restoration Proposal was approved by voters by a margin of 1,886 ‘yes’ votes to 613 ‘no’ votes.

McBain Rural Ag. School’s Operating Millage Proposal was approved by voters by a margin of 383 ‘yes’ votes to 248 ‘no’ votes.

Sault Area Schools’ Bond Proposal was approved by voters by a margin of 1,892 ‘yes’ votes to 1,523 ‘no’ votes.

Mason County East Schools’ Sinking Fund Millage Proposal was approved by voters by a margin of 412 ‘yes’ votes to 368 ‘no’ votes.

Local services garner voter approval

Marquette Township’s Fire & Ambulance Services Millage was approved by voters by a margin of 52 ‘yes’ votes to 39 ‘no’ votes.

The Sugar Island Township Solid Waste Services proposal was approved by voters by a margin of 158 ‘yes’ votes to 18 ‘no’ votes.

The Sugar Island Township Fire Department Operations proposal was approved by voters by a margin of 163 ‘yes’ votes to 12 ‘no’ votes.

The Sugar Island Township Ambulance Department Operations proposal was approved by voters by a margin of 142 ‘yes’ votes to 33 ‘no’ votes.
