Aldrich Street sewer project to cost $617K

CADILLAC— The Cadillac City Council voted unanimously 4-0 to approve a contractor for new sanitary sewer lines on Aldrich Street at its Aug. 4 meeting.

Council members awarded the contract to CJ’s Excavating, Inc. in Cadillac for more than $617,000, beating out bids from three excavation companies. A 5% contingency was also approved for city engineer-approved changes due to unknowns occurring underground, totaling more than $648,000 for the project. The engineer’s estimate for the project was $621,000—close to $400,000 for the street and more than $220,000 for utilities.

The project will include 1,400 feet of Aldrich Street reconstruction. Construction is expected to start in mid-August and last for 6 or 7 weeks. They hope to have it wrapped up by deer hunting season.
