BEULAH — More people than ever are taking the bus in Benzie County.

Benzie Bus says they had their highest monthly ridership in their 18-year history.

According to Benzie Bus, they provided 11,803 passenger trips in July.

With a growing population and more visitors coming to the area, they say it represents a big increase in demand for public transportation.

Benzie Bus also says this was all done without any expansions to service or promotions.

“This record is more than just a number,” said Jessica Carland, Executive Director of Benzie Bus. “It represents thousands of connections made to jobs, to medical care, to groceries, to community events. Our buses are helping people live fuller, more independent lives, and that’s what public transit is all about.”

Looking to the future, Benzie Bus says they are rolling out some improvements this fall, including health rides five days a week, extended Saturday hours and service on Sundays.
