One last chance to get your “Gobbler”

Mary’s Kitchen Port to close on Friday for good

TRAVERSE CITY — Customers lined West Front Street for one last visit to Mary’s Kitchen Port before they close for good Friday, August 1.

The owners announced their retirement and store closure back in March of this year.

Mary’s Kitchen Port has been open for 44 years and they’ve been known for their freshly made lunch items, like the Gobbler sandwich and kitchen goods.

It’s been a family run endeavor since it opened and started as a catering business back in 1971, before opening at the brick and mortar location.

Customers waited in line for over an hour to get one last sandwich from the shop including Michelle who has been a loyal customer since 1989 and will be back for their final day.

“This morning I came to get, another gobbler two, actually, and, chocolate bars. Chocolate oat bars and, very sad, melancholy feeling about this closing. And so coming back again tomorrow,” she said.

Owners Mike Boudjalis and Kathy Baier thank their customers after years of support.
