OTSEGO COUNTY, Mich. — A 43-year-old Otsego County man was arrested after multiple reports of larceny from vehicles in Bagley Township and Gaylord led to the recovery of stolen property, including two handguns, Michigan State Police said.
Per a July 29 MSP news release, troopers from the MSP Gaylord Post began receiving complaints of thefts from vehicles in Bagley Township on July 10, with additional reports coming in on July 21. Similar complaints were also reported to the Otsego County Sheriff’s Department and Gaylord City Police.

Investigators obtained home surveillance footage from several victims, which helped identify a suspect. One victim told troopers their stolen cellphone had been activated and provided its location on July 21.
Troopers found Johnathan Wenner, 43, of Otsego County, riding a bicycle in the area. He matched the description from the surveillance footage and had items that had been previously reported stolen, police said.
A search warrant at a Bagley Township residence led to the recovery of a stolen handgun and numerous other items.
The next day, troopers executed a second warrant at a Gaylord storage unit, where they found another stolen handgun and additional stolen property. Wenner was arrested and booked into the Otsego County Jail.
He was arraigned July 23 in 87-A District Court on two counts of breaking and entering a vehicle to steal property, one involving items valued at $200 or more but less than $1,000, and another under $200. Wenner is scheduled to appear in court again Aug. 14.
