Clare man charged with aggravated child sexually abusive activity

CLARE, Mich. — A Clare man has been arrested on charges of aggravated child sexually abusive activity and using a computer to commit a crime, according to the Michigan State Police Computer Crimes Unit and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

Per a July 28 news release, David Kenneth Myers, 53, was taken into custody following an investigation that began after authorities learned he was viewing files of child sexually abusive material online, police said. Digital evidence was seized during the investigation.

Myers was arraigned Friday, July 25, in 76th District Court on one count of aggravated child sexually abusive activity and one count of using a computer to commit a crime.

The MSP Computer Crimes Unit encourages parents to discuss internet safety with children. Resources are available through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children at missingkids.org and the Michigan ICAC Task Force at michiganicac.com.

Authorities urge anyone with information about potential child sexual exploitation to submit a report to the CyberTipLine at missingkids.org/cybertipline.
