GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY — Bradford James Gille, 42, of Afton, near Indian River, was arraigned in 86th District Court in Traverse City on Monday afternoon. A not-guilty plea was entered on the charges of terrorism and 11 counts of assault with intent to murder.
“I don’t want to talk to you,” Gille said to Judge Tammi Rodgers when asked to clarify the pronunciation of his name. Gille was then taken to another room for an explanation of the proceedings in the courtroom.

Gille is accused of stabbing 11 people at the Traverse City Walmart on Saturday.
On Saturday at 4:43 p.m., Central Dispatch began receiving calls stating there was a man with a knife inside the Walmart store actively stabbing people.
The weapon used was a folding knife with a 3 ½ inch cutting blade. Aid was provided to the victims by responding law enforcement, citizens and other emergency responders. The victims were transported to Munson Medical Center, where only one remains in serious condition. The ages of the victims ranged from 29 years old to 84 years old.
Grand Traverse County Prosecutor Noelle Moeggenberg asked for a significant cash bond due to his criminal and mental health history and the seriousness of the crime.
Judge Rodgers set the bond at $100,000.
A preliminary examination is set for Aug. 12.
