Norte Youth Cycling is teaming up with Cherry Capital Airport to give away 500 bicycle helmets to kids at no cost.

The “Free Lids for Cyclin’ Kids” event was setup at the Norte Clubhouse at the Grand Traverse County Civic Center to fit everyone from toddlers to teens with the stylish safety equipment.

After kids got their new helmets, they were able to take them for a test drive around the clubhouse.

Norte’s mission of keeping the community active through cycling and the airport’s commitment to safe travel... Made for the perfect partnership.

“Norte is all about keeping youth on bicycles. Being happy, healthy and strong. And being safe is a key point. So having helmets distributed in the community for our riders means so much to us,” said Norte board member, John Germaine.

“It just makes me think about, the first time that kids are mobile, their mobility to travel, the independence that riding a bike offers, and to be able to provide helmets to continue our safety message is very important to TVC,” said Cherry Capital Airport CEO, Kevin Klein.

Both groups hope that giving these helmets away will help promote a healthy and safe lifestyle for cyclists of all ages.
