TRAVERSE CITY — Munson Medical Center in Traverse City saw record breaking patient numbers the week of July 14th.
That came just off the heels of the National Cherry Festival and an influx of tourism to the region.
Munson Medical Center is currently licensed for 442 inpatient beds and in the middle of last week they reached 455 patients.
They say they’ve seen an increase in trauma related care and the need for some residents to establish a primary care relationship.
Munson has been working to streamline patient care during that increase.
“Typically we run near capacity but never at capacity or slightly over,” says Munson Medical Center Regional President and CEO Joe Hurshe. “We’ve made significant investments in our scheduling capabilities, and we are also working diligently to become more efficient, onsite at the Medical Center. So we get patients and loved ones, care that they need, better, faster and of course safer.”
Munson plans to continue evaluating potential expansions to address the increase in patient capacity in the coming years.
