GLADWIN COUNTY — A 20-year-old man from Bentley Township died Friday morning following a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Swinson Neuman Road and South School Road, according to the Gladwin County Sheriff’s Office.

According to a July 21 news release, deputies were dispatched to the scene at approximately 5:50 a.m. July 18. A preliminary investigation indicates the man was driving a 2007 Nissan Maxima eastbound on Swinson Neuman Road when he entered the intersection and was struck by a southbound 2010 Ford Flex driven by a 44-year-old woman from Hay Township.
The driver of the Nissan was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained in the crash. The woman driving the Ford was transported by ambulance to MyMichigan Medical Center-Midland with life-threatening injuries.

Toxicology results are pending to determine whether alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash.
The Gladwin County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Billings Township Fire Department, Mills Township Fire Department, Beaverton Township Fire Department, MyMichigan EMS and Michigan State Police accident investigators.

The crash remains under investigation. Upon completion of lab and agency reports, the case will be submitted to the Gladwin County Prosecutor for review.
