TRAVERSE CITY — Two of Downtown Traverse City’s signature summer events return Aug. 1 with the annual Downtown Street Sale and Friday Night Live, bringing a full day of shopping, entertainment, and community celebration to Front Street.
Now in its 66th year, the Street Sale will run from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 1. The long-running open-air shopping tradition will once again close Front Street to vehicle traffic, allowing downtown retailers to set up sidewalk displays featuring deep discounts and special offers.

As the evening sets in, the downtown district will transition into Friday Night Live, a family-friendly street party held from 6 to 9 p.m. The event will continue on Friday, Aug. 8.
Friday Night Live features live music, street performers, nonprofit booths, and food vendors. Activities include balloon art, face painting, juggling shows, interactive art, community yoga, and pet-friendly offerings.

Featured entertainment on Aug. 1 includes the All-American Dance Party, Little Dipper with ’90s country and line dancing, The Timebombs live band, Fresh Coast Groove DJ set, and performances from Old Town Playhouse. Specialty acts like the Clark Lewis Juggling Show and TC Double Bubble are also set to return.
Event organizers say the day-long celebration is designed to showcase the vibrancy of downtown while offering something for all ages.
