TRAVERSE CITY — Two athletes from the Traverse City Fencing Club earned national medals and several others posted strong finishes at the 2025 USA Fencing Summer National Championships, held June 28 to July 7 in Milwaukee.

Sixteen local fencers competed in 20 events at the tournament, which drew more than 6,000 athletes from across the country.
Hosted annually, the Summer Nationals is the largest and most prestigious fencing competition in the United States, featuring more than 90 events across all age divisions and weapons: foil, épée and saber.

Claire Norconk led the Traverse City delegation, capturing a gold medal in Division II women’s épée. She bested a field of 168 fencers to claim the national title.
Adeline Depauw also reached the podium, finishing eighth in Division III women’s épée and securing a top-eight national medal.
“This is the pinnacle of the fencing season,” said Jeff Underhill, president of Traverse City Fencing Club. “To see Claire take gold and Adeline earn a national medal speaks volumes about their work ethic and the community we’ve built here. These are massive accomplishments.”

Club officials credited the strong showing in Milwaukee to years of coaching, athlete development and a culture focused on perseverance, sportsmanship and excellence.
The Traverse City Fencing Club will offer beginner fencing classes for both youth and adults this fall. Details are available at www.tcfencingclub.com.
