EAST BAY TOWNSHIP — A 47-year-old Lewiston man was killed just after midnight Monday when he was struck by a vehicle while trying to cross US 31 North in East Bay Township, authorities said.
According to the Grand Traverse County Sheriff’s Office, Daniel Kendrick was on foot when he attempted to cross the highway between Three Mile Road and Four Mile Road.
He was hit by an eastbound vehicle driven by a 33-year-old Traverse City man.
Emergency crews from Grand Traverse Metro Fire Department and East Bay Fire and EMS responded to the scene, where the pedestrian was pronounced dead.
The Michigan State Police and Grand Traverse County Road Commission also assisted at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation. Authorities said no further information will be released until next week.
