TRAVERSE CITY — A partnership between Northwestern Michigan College and Michigan Works! aims to drive more adults to continue their education.
The college received $1.19 million from the state which will support four new full time positions for the 10 county region: Antrim, Benzie, Emmet, Charlevoix, Kalkaska, Manistee, Missaukee, Leelanau, Grand Traverse and Wexford
The statewide goal is to have 60% of adults with degrees and certificates by 2030.
Northwestern Michigan College will create nontraditional pathways in order to provide that education.
“This collaborative is really important to our region, because we have a lot of great organizations that are working to help adults prosper in our region,” says Leslie Bilbey with NMC Extended Education & Training Community Coordinator. “The collaborative will help form educational service providers, industry leaders, and students to work together so everybody can reach their access points that they need for success and attainment.”
Anyone looking to continue their education can contact the NMC Education & Training office.
