Pit Spitters hosting ‘Spit on Cancer Night’ June 21st

TRAVERSE CITY — On June 21st the Traverse City Pit Spitters are taking a swing for a good cause.

It’s their 3rd annual ‘Spit on Cancer’ game in partnership with Munson Healthcare. It’s not just a way to celebrate survivors of cancer, but a fundraiser for those battling the disease.

There is currently a jersey auction, with proceeds going to the Munson Healthcare Cancer Patient Needs Fund.

“It’s been a great thing for us to be a part of,” says Pit Spitters General Manager Jacqueline Holm. “We’ve been able to welcome survivors into the facility. Munson has underwritten the cost of tickets for those fans. We’ve been able to coordinate some amazing first pitches. I’ve heard some incredible stories. We’ve been part of many infusion days now at the Family Cancer Center, so it’s been very meaningful to our organization to be partnering with them on this.”

And the game will also feature survivor walks for those that have been impacted and have overcome the life changing illness.
