Ludington State Park to reopen ahead of schedule with upgraded roads and walkways

LUDINGTON — Ludington State Park will reopen earlier than planned after completing a major enhancement project, according to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.

Day-use areas will reopen on Wednesday, June 25, and campgrounds and overnight lodging will follow on Thursday, June 26. The improvements include repaved roads, upgraded pedestrian walkways, and improved parking areas.

Reservations for June 26–30 will become available at 8 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, through the state’s reservation system. Park officials noted that many campsites are already booked beginning July 1, the park’s originally scheduled reopening date.

The project was supported by $2.635 million in proposed federal relief funding through Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s Building Michigan Together Plan, which will also help fund future renovations.
