TRAVERSE CITY — A partnership between two local organizations is helping battle food insecurity over the summer.
The Sunshine Bus was established by the school’s student support network and they provide popup free meal bags and other basic necessities.
The bus will be out every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday until August 25th at 8 different locations.
It’s a way for the TCAPS to continue to provide those meals that the kids were used to during the school year.
“Father Fred provides blessings in a bag throughout the school year,” says Student Support Network Coordinator Katie Kubesh. “And when the school year ended, they were trying to figure out a creative way to be able to still get the food out to the kids and TCAPS has the school busses. So we were able to provide that.”
There will be no Sunshine Bus service the week of July 4th.
