TRAVERSE CITY — A family friendly event today over at meadow lanes mobile home park in Traverse City.
The Grand Traverse County Sheriff’s Office was invited out to interact with the kids who just got out of school for the summer.
This is the second year they came out to Meadow Lanes and wanted to make it bigger than last time and had deputies get involved in grilling food, playing ball or showing them the police cruisers and K-9 officer
They wanted Garfield Township deputies specifically to get involved to build those healthy relationships within their community.
“For the kids, the opportunity to meet with the officers is is great,” says Lt. Roy Raska. “We’re here on a friendly level. The interaction has been great. Today just gives them an opportunity to see us. And if they need us to come and ask for help.”
The Sheriff’s Office was also joined by Garfield Township Fire and Rescue and the library’s bookmobile.
