MANISTEE COUNTY — A 23-year-old Irons man was arrested earlier this month in connection with a 2023 sexual assault investigation in Manistee and Lake counties, according to Michigan State Police.
Joshua Dekoekkoek was taken into custody without incident on Aug. 1 and lodged in the Manistee County Jail after an arrest warrant was issued following a lengthy investigation by troopers from the MSP Cadillac Post. The alleged assault took place Jan. 5, 2023, at two separate locations.
Dekoekkoek was arraigned Aug. 3 in the 85th District Court in Manistee County on two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct involving force or coercion. He was issued a $10,000 cash surety bond.
His next court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 13 at 1:30 p.m.

MISSAUKEE COUNTY — An MMR employee and volunteer cadet firefighter was in Missaukee County district court, facing several charges, including accosting a minor for immoral purposes.
The Missaukee County Sheriff said the 26-year-old Joshua Dekoekkoek of McBain was arrested on Friday. He’s facing charges of accosting a minor for immoral purposes, second-degree sex crimes, using a computer to commit a crime, and 2 counts of misdemeanor assault and battery.
The sheriff said they received a complaint last week, midweek, from a parent.
Missaukee County deputies said the man had improper conduct with a child.
Dekoekkoek is expected to be back in court later this month.
