Cedar River stream sampling sites receive ‘excellent’ ratings from community volunteers

MIDLAND — Little Forks Conservancy hosted a successful Cedar River Stream Sampling event this spring in Midland, engaging volunteers in monitoring the health of the watershed.

Volunteers gathered at various sites along the Cedar River to collect and identify aquatic macroinvertebrates, which are key indicators of water quality and ecosystem health.

Participants will learn how to collect macroinvertebrates, identify habitat types, and lead stream sampling teams. No prior experience is necessary, and all equipment will be provided.
