GAYLORD — The March ice storm left tens of thousands without power across Northern Michigan, and now, the Michigan Public Service Commission wants to hear from those affected.
The MPSC says their primary goal is to serve the public by ensuring safe, reliable and accessible energy and telecommunications services.
They will be hosting a public forum in Gaylord to review the response to the ice storm and to hear input from utility customers who were impacted.
Commissioners and staff from the MPSC will be on site to answer questions and gather feedback to ice storm response.
“When we’ve done these public hearings in the wake of storms in the past, every single time we’ve walked out with new ideas, things that we hadn’t thought of, and you only know what you know and hearing directly from from the public and particularly those who went, you know, sometimes weeks or more without power, gives us a better understanding of what we can do to make sure that we’re better placed for the next time,” said Dan Scripps, MPSC Chair.
The meeting will be Wednesday, May 21 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Ellison Place in Gaylord.
