CADILLAC — The work is just beginning on a home that was given 7 days by the Cadillac water department’s superintendent to fix a sewage problem or the home’s water would be shut-off, leaving tenants forced to move.
Northern Michigan’s news leader first brought you this story yesterday where we told you a tenant had recently moved into an apartment in the home.
She said raw sewage was being hidden in the basement and then funneled into the backyard. Her kids were playing around it, not knowing what it was, and it made them sick.
After contacting the Cadillac water department and 9&10 news, a septic tank service and an excavator were on the scene in less than 24 hours.
As off this morning, those crews said the problem could take days to repair but they are confident the work can be done within the 7-day time frame ordered by the city.
