Wexford Jewelers parking lot takes next step in being fixed

CADILLAC — Good news when it comes to Cadillac’s failing culvert in the Wexford Jewelers parking lot.

State Senator Michele Hoitenga from Manton now says the culvert--turned sinkhole is on track to being fixed.

After years of the parking lot crumbling away and causing not only an eyesore but a safety hazard, funding could finally be on the way.

Hoitenga tells us getting the money to fix it will be one of her priorities when she gets back to Lansing, adding “It’s pretty devastating. We have got to address us. Can get a fix. I have been assured we’re going to have funding coming for that. And so I look forward to getting back to Lansing and getting the budgets done so that we can secure the funding and get these culverts fixed.”

Last year the city estimated it would cost $7 million to fix the culvert on both sides of Mitchell Street.
