Governor attends groundbreaking ceremony for Cadillac Lofts Phase Two

CADILLAC — Ahead of the Annual Governor’s breakfast in Cadillac, Governor Gretchen Whitmer stopped by the construction site for Cadillac Lofts Phase 2 for a groundbreaking ceremony.

The early morning ceremony featured the governor addressing housing in, not just Cadillac, but the whole state.

She spoke on the importance of bringing housing back to Michigan with $5 million through the Missing Middle Program and $2.5 million through the Community Revitalization Program.

The governor said “”We’re building we’re rehabilitating almost 40,000 units, supporting 20,000 good paying jobs in the process. So during my state of the state earlier this year, I announced the largest investment to build buyer housing in Michigan history. For the third year in a row.“

The governor added that the median age of a home buyer is now 56 years old, an all time high.

Just a quarter of homes went to first time buyers, which is considered an all time low.
