Trout, inland walleye, northern pike seasons begin April 26th in Lower Peninsula

It’s a big weekend for Michigan anglers. Trout, lower peninsula inland walleye and northern pike seasons begin Saturday April 26th.

The DNR is advising caution for anyone in northern Michigan after the recent ice storm. They also say that knowing and documenting any invasive species while out fishing can help them get those populations under control.

“We have an app called Eyes in the Field. You can pull that up. And you can report the information,” says MDNR Fisheries Biologist Christian LeSage. “You can also, take a photo of it and send that to local DNR office. And we’d be happy to look at information that way.”
