The boy and his brightly colored blocks

Autism can be difficult to understand at times. With many falling upon a spectrum, it is hard to know how to care for a child with autism if you have never experienced the disability before. It is even more difficult for your child who is fighting a battle that you are unable to comprehend. That is why the latest children’s book from friend of the show Dr. Shafer Stedron, “The Boy and his Brightly Colored Blocks,” is such an important read.

Not only does this fun and beautiful book capture the daily life of a young boy with autism, giving children someone to relate to, but it also gives parents a peek into what their child may be going through. The titular Boy loves to play with his favorite blocks and strongly dislikes change and transition, a very common trait of those with autism. The boy’s mother helps him learn to navigate these tricky times.
