TRAVERSE CITY — The Traverse City Curling Club is holding its annual cherry bombspiel this week.
The curling tournament has been held for at least a decade. It starts at 2 p.m. on Thursday and lasts through April 27, with their final game starting at noon. Executive director of the club, Kate Sterken, said around 40 teams from all over the state and country will be competing in the tournament.
“This is just a recreational tournament,” Sterken said. " There’s no real prize for winning it. But what it is, is as a chance for curlers to get to know other curlers, you know, again, from around the region, in the country and just have a great time together, you know, have fun playing the game, but also have as much fun hanging out, in the at the club,” said Sterken.
The event, being held at the Cherryland Center, will also feature entertainment, including a local improv group and a live band.
