When the hot summer days hit and you load up your family into the car for a trip to the pool or for a weekend at your favorite campground, you may not consider the amount of time and dedication it takes to keep these resources safe for you and your loved ones.

There are many things that your health department does to protect the community, but to name just a few:
- All campgrounds and pools in Michigan are inspected annually to ensure compliance with state laws and regulations.
- H.D.N.W. is contracted by the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) to conduct the annual campground and pool inspections.
- H.D.N.W. currently audits 52 campgrounds and 200 pools annually for safety and environmental hazards.
- Campgrounds can offer more modern or rustic accommodations, both are inspected, including State parks.
