GAYLORD— Nonprofits are still working to help those impacted by the Northern Michigan ice storm.
That includes the American Red Cross.
They moved quickly to help those who needed a place to go after losing power.
The executive director of the Northern Michigan chapter, Michelle Gallegher, said that despite a majority of power being restored, their work isn’t over, and people still need a helping hand.
“We do have assistance available for people that didn’t have insurance or are underinsured that they can apply for, contact the Red Cross and we may be able to provide assistance with that financially,” said Gallegher. “It’s a continuing effort, we want to make sure that we don’t just come in, make sure everybody has food and a place to sleep and leave. We’re here for the long term to make sure that all communities get back on track where they need to be.”
