KALKASKA COUNTY — Communities throughout northern Michigan have come together to support linemen from around the state and beyond as they work to bring power back to residents.
Kalkaska in no exception.
After Great Lakes Energy reached out and asked for help, The Bee Hive Cafe began providing 90 meals daily to linemen currently staying in the area, but they aren’t stopping at city limits.
“Tomorrow we’re taking the food trailer to Gaylord, and we have over 400 meals that we’re handing out for free to anybody in Gaylord that needs a meal,” owner Carley Lortz said, “So whether that’s a lineman or a resident or whoever it might be, they’re more than happy to come to the food trailer and get as much food as they need.”
If you are interested in helping the cafe, you can reach out to them by calling (231) 384-6033.
