Antrim County churches and businesses open for residence to stay warm

ANTRIM COUNTY — Antrim County was one of many counties hit during the ice storm. Most of the damage was in the northern part of the county and east of Mancelona.

The Antrim County Road Commission says they should have 100% of the roads clear. Many businesses have opened their doors as a warming shelter for people without power. Antrim County Undersheriff George Lasater says it’s great to see the community support.

“It’s fantastic. It’s heartwarming to see. We’re out there cleaning up trees, at least to the north yesterday,” Undersheriff George Lasater said. “There were people out there with tractors and chainsaws and front-end loaders and things pushing trees out of the road. Everybody is pitching in to help.”
