VANDERBILT — Heritage Broadcasting’s WFUP Fox tower located at the tip of the lower peninsula has seen major damage after the March 30 ice storms, causing service outages.

According to April 1 updates from the company, the 630-foot tower broke and lost about 100 to 120 feet of segment from its top. This damage has caused outages that the company is actively working to fix and/or reroute coverage.
The AT&T cellular array tower is 362 feet up the tower. The tower covers service for the Leelanau Peninsula, Petoskey and Charlevoix.
“We will be assessing once (the) road is back open and we gain access to the site,” 9&10 News Director of Operations Pete Ludviksen said. “If possible, we will go up on the auxiliary tower.”
