TRAVERSE CITY — Spring has started and many people in northern Michigan are ready to celebrate the warm weather that’s approaching.
The Grand Traverse Conservation District is hosting a Spring Market for community members to enjoy. It will include many nature-themed artisans... Including honey and other local merchants. The Conservation District will also have its Annual Seedling Sale, where you can order native plants for your own garden or landscaping.
“It’s so important to plant native species, whether it’s trees, pollinator species or grasses, because they support so much wildlife and pollinators in our ecosystem. For example, the fir oak, supports over 2000 species itself,” said Miranda Fraley, Outreach and Giving Coordinator, “They’re also already adapted for our local ecosystems. So, they are just going to thrive when you plant them with very little maintenance.”
The Spring Market event is tomorrow at 2 p.m. at the Boardman River Nature Center. To purchase your seedlings, click here.
