MONTMORECY — On Feb. 28, Montmorency County deputies arrested 27-year-old Derek Arthur Shumaker of Hillman.
According to a March 7 news release, Shumaker was served with a felony warrant for operating while intoxicated causing death, which is a felony punishable up to 15 years in prison.
The warrant stems from an incident that occurred in Hillman on the evening of Jan. 4, 2025.

Shumaker was the driver of a 2022 Honda side by side that crashed on Riverside Drive, leading to the death of the sole passenger of the vehicle, 53-year-old Timothy Hunt, also of Hillman.
