“There’s a lot of skills that we teach in the shops because we do all of our own maintenance,” says Maritime Heritage Alliance Executive Director Heather Jankens. “We do all of our own woodworking. We do anything that the boat needs. We do it in-house. We don’t have the big shipyards left in Traverse City that work with wood boats. So we have to do it ourselves. So we have an amazing skill set of people who are always happy to share and to teach, and we are always happy to have new people.”

That open house is from 10am-3pm.

This comes before the Maritime Heritage Alliance moves to their new location on Cass street in the summer.
