TRAVERSE CITY - The Grand Traverse County Sheriff’s Office recognized their deputies for their work from 2024.
The annual awards ceremony was hosted in traverse city today. Sheriff Michael Shea gave awards to deputies which included life-saving awards, merit recognition, and employee of the year. Two sergeants with the corrections division and road patrol were selected for employee of the year both shared how they felt being recognized for what they do.
“It’s nice to be able to recognize them publicly and to let people know, you know what? It’s a tough job and they’re doing an amazing job,” shares Sheriff Michael Shea.
“It’s awesome to get recognized by your administration. It’s something that drives morale, keeps everybody up, and it’s just a good feeling to be recognized,” says Corrections Officer, Sargent Joseph Seaburg.
“It’s a tough job, but we’ve got a lot of great men and women that do it. And I work with a lot of great colleagues, so it’s nice to have good, solid people that are willing to help the community,” explains Sargent Ben McManus.
Grand Traverse County Sheriff Michael Shea encourages others to thank any law enforcement or first responders for what they do.
