LUCE COUNTY - On Feb. 22 around 7:45 p.m., the Luce County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of a vehicle vs. snowmobile crash on County Road 451 in McMillan Township.
Two people, a 36-year-old female and a 35-year-old male, were on the snowmobile and had suffered injuries as a result of the crash, deputies said. They were taken to the hospital by EMS.
A 53-year-old Newberry man who had been operating the vehicle left the scene on foot prior to deputies’ arrival, the sheriff’s department said.
He was subsequently located at a nearby residence and taken into custody for operating while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident, deputies said.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
Deputies were assisted by Luce County EMS, Newberry Fire and Michigan State Police.
