Today A.R.K. (Association to Rescue Kritters) is back with another behind-the-scenes peek at what it takes to run one of the most successful wildlife rescues in the region.
What happens when an animal is brought in due to injury or abandonment? First, they are fully evaluated by the team and placed into a specialized quarantine area to protect the other animals under A.R.K.’s care. After this period they are cared for during their healing process with the goal of rehabilitation and release back into the wild.
But sometimes, the damage is too severe or the babies did not get enough time with mom to learn how to survive as a wild animal. If A.R.K. can provide a high quality of life for the animal, it becomes a permanent resident at the rescue. These are the animals of their Animal Education Program, which frequents schools, businesses, and churches to spread the word about their mission and what we can do as citizens to protect our animal neighbors.
