MSP: Man who was barricaded in home after shooting at troopers has been taken into custody

MOUNT PLEASANT - Around 4 p.m., the man was safely taken into custody, Michigan State Police said.

The 3rd District Special Investigation Section is responding to the scene and will conduct a thorough investigation, troopers said.

In accordance with policy, the trooper(s) involved will be placed on leave, officials said. 

The investigation remains ongoing.

MOUNT PLEASANT - Around 11:55 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 17, Michigan State Police Mount Pleasant Post troopers were sent to a report of a shots fired call at a residence on NE County Line Road near Shearer Road.

As troopers approached the scene, a man exited the residence and shot at responding troopers, officials said.

Troopers returned fire and the man went back inside the home, where it is believed he is still barricaded, officials said.

MSP Negotiators, Emergency Support Team, Aviation, and Bomb Squad members are currently at the scene, according to reports.

A 12-year-old girl inside of the residence was injured and has been taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, troopers said. She is in stable condition.

No other injuries were reported.

This is an active, ongoing investigation, and troopers are asking people to avoid the area until the situation is resolved.
